Married June 7th, 2018
On June 7th, we had the pleasure of hosting Nicole and Michael with family and friends as they shared their vows and danced the night away in the enchanting space at The Cottage at East Wind.
Four years earlier, they both took the plunge into the world of dating and met on Plenty of Fish, feeling a instant click. They shared and cherished moments leading up to their engagement together, explains Nicole, “…getting married was always something we talked about. We went ring shopping, thought about maybe eloping, then thought about having a destination wedding.” With East Wind being the North Fork’s premier destination close to home, they chose the charming and romantic setting of the Cottage for their wedding.
With all the talk of matrimony and having their hearts set on a summer wedding, Nicole knew the proposal was approaching, but it came at the most unpredictable (and adorably intimate) moment. “We went to Atlantic city for a weekend. I didn’t think anything of it because we go often. The first night there we had such a romantic dinner at a steakhouse we never tried before, I had sweaty palms the whole time! Then dinner was over and no proposal! I thought oh man it’s not happening this weekend haha. The next night, we had no reservations or plans we were just winging it, (I) was getting ready in the bathroom, he walked in behind me, ring box in hand, and asked me to spend the rest of our lives together! I was soaking wet in a towel, no makeup on and was completely taken by surprise!” remembers Nicole.
Planning the special day now upon them, bride-to-be Nicole left no room for stress, and she advises engaged couples to remember “in the end, it’s all about you marrying the love of your life.” Her determined and glamorously organized mindset gave way to a stunning day that her guests boast as the “best wedding they have ever been to.”
Everyone knows the “first look” can be a truly magical event, and for Nicole & Michael it was extra special. Before a heartwarming and intimate reveal on the bridge in The Cottage garden, Nicole gave Michael an even memorable surprise, “with the help of his Uncle, I was able to get the same car Michael’s late father had. A 1967 Shelby Cobra picked Michael up as a surprise and drove him over to the cottage. I was bursting with excitement and I couldn’t wait to see him and ask him how much he loved it. This was such a special day and I wanted to give him a part of his father that day.”
Their “outdoor ceremony was breathtaking in every way”, and after celebrating life-long love in the most picture perfect way, the couple recalls the fun and joy of food tastings, writing vows and planning their dream honeymoon. However, a couple’s wedding day can sometime seem to pass in the blink of an eye. “Take a deep breath and soak up every moment because it goes so fast,” says Nicole, “Also, if you can enjoy cocktail hour together, alone in the bridal suite, do it!”
Congratulations, Nicole and Michael!
